Through this lab we found the relationship between centripetal acceleration and speed by using a force sensor. Our independent variable was speed an our dependent variable was acceleration. our controls included radius and mass of the spinning object. To conduct the lab. We spun a weight on the tip of a string through a straw and at the other end of the string was a force sensor which later allowed us to calulate the acceleration of the spinning object.
Data Analysis
Conclusion:
Through this graph, we found the relationship between speed and centripetal acceleration for a spinning object. We know that anything moving in a circular patter is always accelerating because it is changing direction. Therefore, it is not possible to have negative acceleration for a spinning object. This information can be used to find velocities and accelerations for objects moving at a continuous radius or angle.
